Hi, Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, we've had 2 litters born recently and with summer company and activities it has been wild around here.

An overweight schnauzer.... ?I hope I can help, I know my mom's schnauzer is very overweight and when I ask her what she feeds her, she says 'just a regular dry dog food'. ?What she didn't tell me was about all the high fat 'treats' that she was feeding her. ?Our dogs here only get raw fruits and vegetables for snacks. They love carrots and green apples! ?Just make sure no grapes or raisins which are highly toxic (even lethal) to dogs.

I would also be curious to know more about her....such as her age, how much and how often she eats? ?Older dogs can become overweight as their lifestyle slows down.... ?Or did you have her fixed before she gained weight? ?They will sometimes gain a few lbs after being altered, but mine have lost the weight eventually.

Other than that I would see that she is getting enough exercises-- age becomes even more of a weight factor when exercises is an issue, and if none of my answers help...please ask your vet. It could be a symptom of something else that is going on with her physically.

Good luck- and please keep us updated.
