Hi Luce, A: Schnauzers are one of the only breeds that don't shed. They are often recommended to people with allergies because they don't have the dander that other breeds do. I don't have allergies, but there's a big dog here, part Chow-part Golden Retriever- and he drops wads that look like cotton candy!Yuck!
Yep, Schnauzers keep the Hoovers Happy! ???

I just bought a min. schnauzer and much to my dismay...he sheds.  He's the first one I've owned that sheds, but his coat is wiry unlike my other two.  He's also black and tan and my other two were gray and white...maybe that's the difference.  He's also AKC reg...so I know that's not the issue.

Hello,

Interesting! ?I have yet to see a purebred schnauzer that sheds. ?When they lose their puppy fir you might notice a little shedding.

Salt & Pepper Miniature Schnauzers come in a variety of colors from light silver to almost black. ?If a color is recognized by the AKC then you can register that color, ?even if the puppy is black and tan (white is a good example).

If a miniature schnauzer is purebred then they should not shed. ?Keep in mind that the AKC can not be responsible when less then ethical people fudge registrations and lie about the dam and sire. ?

Registration in not proof of quality as the AKC states quite clearly. ? They are just a registry. ? I'm not saying that this is what happened in your case but you might want to check your mini's pedigree to see what color his parents were and their parents, etc. ?If you do not have a pedigree you can order one from the AKC on line using your babies registration number. ?Again, this might answer some questions for you but a pedigree is not proof that some or any of the line is truly purebred.

Emmett ?
