Grooming for showing

HI!

Wow this looks like a very cool group! Glad I found it. 

I will soon become the new mom to a mini and I am kind of interested in showing her in some UKC events. 

Does anyone know how strict on grooming the the schnauzers that the UKC is?  I know they are not for a lotof grooming and like a more au natural look but would clipping with clippers as opposed to stripping work?

The idea of hand stripping just really doesnt sit well with me....seems like it would hurt.

Hello Kia,

Glad that you found us!  As far as the UKC and showing your miniature schnauzer, you must strip her.  They do not make exceptions.  I would imagine that stripping is about the same as rooming tangles and mats.  It most likely is a pinching and probably at bit annoying to dogs.  Personally, we do not like the idea of stripping or putting a dog through everything that is involved with showing, but different strokes for different fokes.

The schnauzer just wants to be with you always and if that means taking them to and competing in the shows then they are happy that you're doing it together.

I would have to agree with you.   While showing is something I'd love to do the stripping thing isnt something that interests me.  I looked at some websites and it just looks painful!

I did get my schnauzer girl.  She is is everything I wanted!
