--------------------------------------

I have a 3 year old salt and pepper miniature schnauzer. He isn't a show dog, just a family member. We recently moved to the country and shaved his skirt off because we are in a wooded area and he keeps picking up leaves, ticks, and so on. We treat him monthly with flea and tick medications and he sees the vet regularly. However, my husband decided to cut his beard down some to help get rid of some fleas. I was heart-broken. I want to know if and how long it will take for his beard to grow back? We have had him groomed several times in the past, but of course they don't cut his beard, and it doesn't seem to grow like the rest of his hair. Please let me know!
RE: Schnauzer GroomingNot to worry, your miniatures beard will grow back with time. It will not grow as quickly as his coat of fur, more like the facial hair on humans, once cut the beard will take a little more time to grow back, but be assured, it will grow back. Groomers will not cut your Schnauzers beard unless you specifically ask them to do so otherwise they will just trim and shape it to keep it looking good.Time is the cure and the cure is time.Sincerely,Emmett

I started clipping my Miniature Schnauzer's beard and skirt when she was about a year old and had a terrible infestation of fleas.   Ewww.  I lived in a house on a corner lot and all the neighborhood dogs got walked by...leaving their fleas.  It was so horrible that I thought about getting rid of her for a short time until my grandma sent me an article about yeast.  I started giving her yeast tablets like you find in the vitamin section of WalMart...poof, the fleas were gone and her coat got nice and shiny...not to mention that even though they smelled bad to me, she loved them like a treat.  Thanks Grandma.  I went from pulling thousands off of her to pulling 6 one year and 1 another.  She was much happier too.  I lost her about this time last year after nearly 15 years.  I haven't been able to bring myself to get another.
