Dear Janelle,

First of all, I would like you to know how happy we are with Fiorello. He's an amazing dog and loves Gina so much.He is, by the way, bigger than her now. Since we have him, not even one accident has happened and he loves to be in the country, specially when taken to long walks on the trails into the woods.Of course they both sleep on the bed with me, although he's much more independent and more of an explorer than she is.He also spends time in NYC, where he usually takes private classes and has learned so many things. He understands "sit", "down", "stay" and believe or not "speak" ( as soon as they hear the command, they both reply with that very funny bark [long and not loud], that I believe only schnauzers know how to do it. Ah..... of course they understand also another question:- Do you want to eat?. Anyway, they are such a cute couple that very often people are forced to stop on the street just to see them passing. I'm still not used to Fiorello's amazing pace.He naturally walks like a show dog without never having classes for that.

Anyway, the other reason I'm writing to you is because of his coat. It is beautiful and silky but I'm really having troubles with mats in a way I have never experienced with Gina. As I told you before, she has a very easy coat that doesn't require much care. Although being combed and brushed very often, it's been very difficult to keep the mats away from Fiorello's coat and I decided then to write you this e-mail to see if you have any suggestion. I have tried some conditioners and even a special spray recommended by the groomer but nothing seems to work. Would you have any special recommendation? Please let me know and once again, thank you very much for such a wonderful dog. He is certainly our very precious jewel.

With my best regards,

Sandro

Hi Sandro!!!!

I was so glad to hear from you!  I'm glad to hear that Fiorello is doing great, and is a happy boy. You know we ended up keeping one of his brothers....His name is Louie, and he turned out to be a big boy! A total sweetheart tho- and we love him.

As for the mats, he must have a very fine soft coat. I would love to see some pictures of him!

I used to give away a de-matting comb in the package that you get with the new puppy- but it became to expensive, as these combs are not cheap!  One that you can get is called the Matbreaker. :veryangry:  This one I have not used, but I'll bet they are good. In the stores here- they are priced at $18. so I have bought the Dematting combs instead, which run about $7.

Either will work for you if you haven't tried them, I have used them for years. It is actually blades as comb teeth. I just saw it online for a reasonable price at:
Dematting Comb

I hope this helps!  Please let me know.
Good to hear from you....send pictures!!
