We are going to be receiving our new puppy the middle of December. It is a surprise for our 3 kids for Christmas.  The breeder just emailed me updated pictures of the puppy that we have chosen.  He is approx 6 weeks old and appears to already need a haircut! LOL

Is this normal? Do most breeders groom them before they are allowed to go home.  This is my first time owning a mini schnauzer and I'm not sure of what to expect.

Thanks!

Hi Kdoodles,

Well this is a very hard question to answer unless we were familiar with the breeder. ?

Our puppies go out at 6 weeks if at all possible and we choose not to shock the puppy anymore than necessary. ?Clipping claws yes, clipping hair no. ?

If the hair around the puppies eyes has grown substantially then we will cut the hair back using scissors. ? In cases where we hold the puppy after 6 weeks, ?for a period of time until the adoptor is ready, ?we would then clip the puppy giving him ?the traditional schnauzer look unless otherwise directed.

Send the breeder a quick email and ask them what their usual practice is when releasing their puppies at the predetermined date. ?
